Albert Einstein, abstract painting. Painted 2016 to 2017 by British artist, Gheorghe Virtosu, b.1968. Oil painting, Abstract art, 80 cm high by 89 cm wide. 31 X 35 inches.

Welcome to Albert Einstein canvas art world. The abstract painting is a wonderous mixture of colors and shapes, in the midst of which is the centerpiece. The latter is dominated by red, followed by black and grey, with the yellow being negligible. The center is a swirl of colors but, unlike that which surrounds it, has a discernible shape. Carefully painted, while seeming to be nothing other than a play with colors, attracts viewers’ attention for quite a bit of time as they struggle to understand it. Unique and mesmerizing are the two words which come to mind when gazing at, and reflecting upon this Albert Einstein canvas painting.

Gheorghe Virtosu is a primary master of the abstract art movement and school. From the perception of viewer who has not engaged with abstract art, Virtosu extended beyond it and challenged its limits. This is evident from the many abstract paintings done on Albert Einstein. Apart from a handful, all the paintings featured the subject in recognizable form. Virtosu sheds this method and, arguably, the centerpiece is, clearly, Albert Einstein’s head and the grey in the middle may be identified as the brain. This interpretation gains greater traction when we move to the four spikes protruding from the right side of his head. Three directly project from his brain and two show the grey moving along the spikes. This is artistic depiction of Einstein’s mind and it is dripping ideas, which take form and shape in all that which surrounds it. Whilst yellow dominates, other colors make a strong appearance, such as the purple in the bottom right corner, the orange in the upper right side of the oil painting and the blue scattered around. These are Einstein’s ideas and, as depicted, they are beautiful.

Impressive in size and saturation, the Albert Einstein art piece has the ability to show a specific spectrum of colors the artist chose for depicting a genius. Certainly, the above interpretation is highly subjective. Another may interpret it as a beautiful swirl of colors. This is both the wealth and the power of abstract painting; it makes room for subjective interpretations.
